Product Development Engineer - San Leandro, CA
Job Description:

Lumeta™ occupies an exciting and rapidly expanding presence in the renewable energy industry. Increasing markets and company growth have led to the creation of an additional Product Development Engineer position. The position will report to Lumeta’s Senior Product Development Engineer and, will be based in San Leandro, California.
Responsibilities:
- Generate three-dimensional designs of components and/or assemblies using SolidWorks.
- Implement product design changes aimed at improving performance, increasing reliability and/or reducing costs.
- Specify and qualify materials and manufacturing processes that meet product application requirements.
- Execute test protocols for prototypes, finished products and components at company’s testing facility and/or third party test laboratories.
- Document product application guidelines for Lumeta’s product line; develop installation instruction manuals for existing and new products.
- Provide technical project design and product support to solar installers using Lumeta™ products.
- Conduct product training sessions as needed.
Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
- BS degree in mechanical engineering, preferably with emphasis in materials science
- One to two years of experience in product design/development of industrial, mechanical products, with an emphasis in three dimensional design, material specifications and cost optimization
- Knowledge of Solidworks, Simulation and MS Project
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work independently, meet aggressive deadlines and successfully multi-task
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in plastic materials selection and manufacturing processes
- Experience in design, application, component selection and/or testing of solar modules
- Experience interacting with contract manufacturers or outsourced manufacturing resources
- Fluent in Mandarin (products are manufactured in China)
- Professional Engineer license in the State of California
