Operations Manager - Irvine or San Leandro, CA




Job Description

LUMETA (www.lumetasolar.com), is a developer of award-winning building-integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) products headquartered in Irvine, California and is a wholly-owned subsidiary of DRI Companies (www.dricompanies.com), one of the largest and most respected specialty contractors in the United States.  DRI Companies is led by a management team with extensive experience and a longstanding reputation for excellence in the construction industry.  Relying on this experience, LUMETA’s groundbreaking products further enhance a building’s energy efficiency by easily becoming a part of virtually any roof, creating renewable energy without compromising the aesthetics or functionality of the underlying roof system.  

LUMETA occupies an exciting and rapidly expanding presence in the renewable energy industry.  Increasing markets and company growth have led to the creation of an Operations Manager position as we ramp sales of our products. The position has two key responsiblities: First, ‘end to end’ management of order fulfillment and secondly managing the supply chain. The position reports to LUMETA’s Executive Vice President and is based in Irvine or San Leandro, California.
 
Primary Responsibilities:
 
Operations:
  • Manage the bookings/billing forecast and financials. Will work between our customer demand and our suppliers on demand fulfillment
  • Ensuring contracts, orders are ‘clean’. Work closely with our finance and legal department
  • Will own the delivery commitments to our customers
  • Responsible for providing regular forecast updates to our suppliers
Supply Chain:
  • Develop and implement an efficient inventory/logistics strategy to support LUMETA’s solar products business
  • Information Systems: Drive the implementation of material requirements management (MRP) and logistics functions within DRI Companies’ ERP infrastructure (Oracle’s JD Edwards Enterprise One), as well as other software/hardware enablers to support supply chain processes
  • Oversee DRI Companies’ warehouse network and personnel, maximizing the Return on Investment of inventory assets, exceeding fill rates and minimizing shrinkage
  • Manage the quality and on-time delivery of solar module and tile products delivered by contract manufacturers. Quality control engineer in China and Chinese agent functions report to this function
  • Supervise finished solar product shipments to US and Europe
  • Manage material movement from suppliers to job sites for construction services businesses, minimizing total delivered costs and optimizing use of current transportation asset base
  • Develop global supply chain primarily in China and potentially India with contract manufacturers
  • Manage trade compliance import/export
Required Qualifications:
  • BS degree, with a specialization in Operations Management, Supply Chain, Logistics, or Industrial/Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering preferred
  • 5-10 years in a supply chain management function with direct hands on experience
  • Proven experience managing contract manufacturer relationships domestically and internationally
  • Proven expertise in MRP functions 
  • Broad expertise in managing global purchasing function
  • Previous experience implementing MRP, inventory management and/or supply chain optimization information technology enablers 
  • Ability to autonomously thrive in a start-up environment, meet aggressive deadlines and successfully multi-task 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications: 
  • MS or MBA with a specialization in Operations Management, Supply Chain, Logistics, or Industrial/Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering
  • Experience managing supply chain processes in the construction services and/or electric/electronics industries with experience of multiple sourcing
  • Supply chain consulting experience with manufacturing clients
  • Experience implementing inventory optimization and strategic sourcing initiatives
  • Advanced degree in manufacturing management or supply chain disciplines
  • APICS Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) certification
  • Fluent in Mandarin preferred (products are manufactured in China)
